Arnco expands production to meet demand

Arnco, the world’s largest supplier of polyurethane flatproofing products for off-road tires, celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2006 with a record-setting sales performance, according to an announcement by Arnco President Larry Carapellotti.

Mr. Carapellotti also pointed out that the southern California company is expected to become even bigger since the market for cost-saving flat-free tires is growing at a dramatic pace. “The current shortage of large off-road tires,” he added, “has caused a jump in polyurethane flatproofing product sales since flatproofing increases the longevity of existing tires in addition to eliminating flats and reducing downtime. “As a result,” he continued, “flatproofing is now being used on larger off-road tires for virtually all applications because it dramatically extends the life of the tire.”

Thirty-five years after pioneering flatproofing materials, Arnco-filled tires are predominant in construction, mining, aircraft ground support, material handling, lawn/garden and other off-road applications.

Arnco flatproofing is achieved by replacing the air in any pneumatic tire with patented liquid polyurethane that is pumped into the tire through the valve stem. The result is a resilient, synthetic rubber core that never goes flat. The superior physical properties of Arnco filled tires also provide tire performance very close to air inflation.

According to Mr. Carapellotti, Arnco has become the industry leader by producing the finest patented flatproofing products and by making many technical advances to simplify the tire filling process, reduce operating costs and improve filled tire performance.

"Every important flatproofing innovation can be traced back to Arnco," continued Mr. Carapellotti, who assumed full ownership of the firm in 2001. "Because of our technology and aggressive proactive sales and marketing approach, tire flatproofing has developed worldwide usage and is now one of the largest applications for polyurethane rubber."

Arnco markets several polyurethane flatproofing formulations and other products under the Arnco brand that have become widely used in steel mills, scrap yards, land fills, coal mines, factories, construction sites, aerial work platform equipment, original equipment vehicles or wherever the operating environment is hazardous to conventional pneumatic tires. In addition to such polyurethane tire flatproofing materials as SuperFlex®, HeviDuty®, RePneu® and RePneu II®, the company also offers the ReSeal® tire sealant and rim conditioner and the new QuikGel™ self-sealing polyurethane liner that provides protection from punctures up to 5/16” in diameter.

Its broad line of flatproofing materials are marketed through a worldwide network of Arnco Certified Dealers - most of them industrial tire dealers - who are extensively trained by Arnco to fill any off-road tire that has a sound casing. Arnco also is building a strong and growing OEM market, with several leading manufacturers equipping their vehicles with Arnco filled flat-free tires, including Bobcat, Caterpillar, John Deere and Gehl.
